Proofreading and light editing

Proofreading involves reviewing an edited document for errors or inconsistencies, as well as evaluating and correcting formatting irregularities such as text alignment, word division, line breaks, page breaks, page citations, headers, and footers.

Light editing

Light editing generally involves ensuring a consistency of style throughout the document; correcting spelling, grammar, and punctuation; evaluating word usage; correcting cross-referenced figures and tables; and identifying missing material.
