- improving word choice, transitions, and overall fluency;
- ensuring consistency of in-text citations and end-of-chapter references;
- making art and text correspond;
- checking numbering and completeness of references, footnotes, and bibliographies;
- adding credit lines as stipulated;
- ensuring agreement of table of contents with headings;
- marking callouts for tables, figures, footnotes, and cross-references;
- ensuring that headings within chapters are parallel in construction, number, and frequency;
- keeping a style sheet (for the client); and
- formatting footnotes or endnotes, references or bibliography entries.
